چکیده
This paper provides a brief review on wastewater treatment system and the application of life cycle assessment (LCA) for assessing its environmental performance. An extensive regarding geographical relevance LCA WWTPs, evaluation sustainable by in both developed developing countries are also discussed. The objective is to identify knowledge gap, improvement methodology WWTPs. A total 35 published articles related (WWT) from international scientific journals were studied thoroughly summarised 2006 2022. found that there lack studies concerning WWTPs consider specific local criteria especially countries. Thus, it important to: (1) assess influence seasonality (i.e., dry wet seasons) impact WWT, (2) investigate impacts focusing site-specific inventory data, (3) evaluate sustainability different processes upgrading system. cost aspects crucial development WWTP. Therefore, must be assessed provide recommendation future policy water industry determining trade-offs toward development.

Life-Cycle Assessment of Wastewater Treatment Plants
This thesis presents a general model for the carbon footprints analysis of wastewater treatment plants (WWTPs), using a life cycle assessment (LCA) approach. In previous research, the issue of global warming is often related to traditional industries with high carbon dioxide (C0 2) emissions, such as power plants and transportation. However, the analyses of wastewater treatment plants (WWTPs) h...

Advances in wastewater treatment over the past 150 years have improved public health and local water quality. Recently however, society has begun to consider the wider environmental implications of these improvements. This paper uses life cycle assessment to quantitatively compare the environmental costs and benefits of different wastewater treatment technologies and standards. It is demonstrat...
متن کاملUsing the Life Cycle Assessment Methodology for a Comprehensive Evaluation of Energy Demand in Wastewater Treatment
Previously, the analysis of energy demand for wastewater treatment was often limited to onedimensional analyses of electricity demand. However, a comprehensive analysis requires the inclusion of all different contributions to energy demand, such as the energy required to produce chemicals (e.g. coagulants and flocculants) and transport sludge, and the additional fuels needed to dry sewage sludg...
متن کاملLife cycle assessment of wastewater treatment options for small and decentralized communities.
Sustainability has strong implications on the practice of engineering. Life cycle assessment (LCA) is an appropriate methodology for assessing the sustainability of a wastewater treatment plant design. The present study used a LCA approach for comparing alternative wastewater treatment processes for small and decentralised rural communities. The assessment was focused on two energy-saving syste...
متن کاملInvestigating the Wastewater Treatment System of the Tehran Oil Industry Research Institute using the Life Cycle Assessment Method
Introduction: Due to population growth and subsequent limited water resources, the use of treatment plant effluents is of particular importance. Therefore, this study was conducted to identify the environmental effects of the treatment plant and also to identify critical points or weaknesses of the treatment plant system and provide corrective action to reduce the severity of the effects. M...
